Winter 2016

Masters in the Morning Art Classes

We have put together a fantastic program for homeschoolers that is educational, creative and wicked fun!  Our program combines art history and design elements with art projects inspired by master artists. Sessions are 10 weeks long and cover a variety of mediums such as painting, sketching, clay, collage, fiber arts, printing, and sculpting to name a few!  In Masters in the Morning, students will learn new techniques and gain an artful eye that will help them better express themselves individually.

We use quality materials, and the classes are taught by professional artists and teachers.  We value the process of making art rather than focusing on the product,  however our students are producing amazing pieces of art!

The Elements & Principles of Art II
Fridays 9am-11:45am
December 2nd – February 17th

** We have a few spaces opening up Jan 20-Feb 17th**

In the fall session we covered the art elements line, shape and color and did projects inspired by Keith Haring, Piet Mondrian and Henri Matisse. For the winter, we’ll continue to explore the elements and principles of art, starting with texture.  Our morning will start with a 15 minute mindfulness exercise to get those creative juices flowing! This is followed by a visual presentation or sketchbook activity inspired by the element or artist of the week. After a short break we launch into the “art part” where students will get to take this knowledge and and apply it. During this session students will:

  • needle felt a 3D object
  • explore printmaking with gelli plates
  • learn technical drawing skills
  • impasto painting on wood
  • absurd sculptures and collage- Dadaism

….and more!

Parent NoteThis is a drop-off class. We start at 9am and ask that parents and younger siblings are not in our art studio space after that time. We have wifi and you are welcome to stay on premise and utilize one of the many quiet spaces in the building. We will discourage students from visiting  parents during class unless its absolutely necessary. We work to build a comfortable space where students can thrive artistically.
